The Banking Sector Must Evolve To Create A Better World

There is a societal and human need to transform our financial institutions if we want to see an impact on the overall economy and society. To realize this fundamental change we have to create leaders with transformational skills and a deep understanding of cross-cultural management. Designing the Bank of the Future

The banking environment has been evolving in the last few years, but other change agents will impact it in the future, stemming from a new era of customer needs and behaviors. CEMS students from Bocconi University had the unique opportunity to work on a Business Project with UniCredit’s in-house consulting unit, to design the role of a retail bank in ten years’ time, in terms of value proposition and services offered to individuals, distribution channels and potential partnerships with companies. UMC, the UniCredit Management Consultancy unit conceived the project and acted as partner of the CEMS team regularly during the three-month project lifecycle. CEMS interviewed the students, professor and company employees involved in the project.

Student Perspective: Exploring future innovations and planning for the long run was extremely fascinating for us from the very beginning.

What the Dramatic Arts Can Teach Business Students

This Spring, CEMS students on the LSE MiM Capstone course had the unique opportunity to attend the London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) to undertake tailored training designed to increase their personal impact and influence. The RADA workshop comprised a day of 4 sessions covering physical presence to increase gravitas and credibility; vocal presence by learning how to make a more resonant sound with your voice; first impressions by becoming more aware of your voice, body, eye contact and space; and skills for networking, including how to break in and out of conversations  and plan what you want to achieve from networking opportunities. Dr Rebecca Newton, Course Co-Coordinator, Capstone: Management in Action and Senior Visiting Fellow, Department of Management at LSE tells us more.

The LSE MiM Capstone: Management in Action course equips students with the skills necessary to succeed in their managerial careers.

Experiential learning at its best: CEMS students showcase stunning negotiation skills at the simulated Model UNFCCC

Those with concerns over the shortcomings of last year’s UN climate change agreement can rest assured: the world’s countries can agree on tighter measures to keep global temperatures within 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels – at least if the outstanding negotiation skills displayed by CEMS students at the Model UNFCCC are anything to go by.

The Model UNFCCC was held in May at Erasmus University, Rotterdam. The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is the annual meeting of the Conference of Parties (COP).
